PT Petronas Cari gali Muriah Ltd, PT Bakrie and brother Tbk, and state utility PT PLN signed on Monday a gas transportation agreement (GTA) to transport gas from Kepodang field to gas-fired power plant (PLTG) Tambak Lorok in Central Java.

The agreement was signed by PT Bakrie and Brother Tbk President Director Bobby Gafur, PT Indonesia Power President Director Djoko Hastowo who represented PLN, Petronas Cari Gali Muriah Ltd Senior Manager Noorafizal bin Mat Saad in a ceremony that was also attended by downstream oil and gas regulator BPH Migas Chairman Andi Noorsaman Someng, and BPH Migas Committee Member Qoyum Tjandranegara.

BPH Migas Chairman Andi Noorsaman Someng said that the signing of the Kepodang GTA would allow the development of the Kalimantan-Java pipeline to be continued.

The Kepodang-Tambak Lorok pipeline, which will span about 200 km, is a part of the Kalimantan-Java (Kalija) gas transmission project awarded to PT Bakrie and Brothers. According to the initial plan, the pipeline project will be built in stages with the Kepodang-Tambak Lorok being the first. The construction will be then continued from Kepodang to gas fields in Kalimantan.

"We hope the pipeline development will realize the trans-Java and Kalimantan transmission. Hopefully, it can be realized as soon as possible,? said Someng when addressing the signing ceremony.

Bakrie and Brother President Director Bobby Gafur said that the signing of the GTA was his company?s commitment and it was ready to implement it as agreed.

The three parties - Bakrie and Brother, PCML and PLN - have stated that they would be able to deliver the gas by the end of 2014. ?The gas transmission will be our contribution to the state as it will decrease the use of subsidized oil fuels and, therefore, it will also cut the energy subsidy,? he said.
