The crude was shipped to various refineries owned by state owned oil and gas firm PT Petamina (Persero) using Pertamina?s tanker MT. Pegasus Success XXXVIII. Meanwhile, the field?s gas is delivered to the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) in Gresik, East Java before being transmitted to power plants.

Amien said aside from witnessing the first lifting, he came to visit the field in order to gather information on problems faced by oil and gas contractors.

Meanwhile, Hazli voiced appreciation to the governments, either the central and regional ones, for their supports without which the first oil lifting would not become successful.

Bukit Tua started producing oil and gas in mid-May of this year. At present, the field produces 5,000 bpd of oil and 3 mmscfd of gas. The production will gradually escalate to 20,000 bpd and 50 mmscfd in 2016. The Bukit Tua project is the largest Petronas? upstream project in Indonesia so far, developed with an investment of US$800 million. The field is located 35 km north of Madura Island, 110km northeast of Gresik City of East Java.

Ketapang PSC is 80 percent owned by Petronas Carigali Ketapang II Ltd and 20 percent by PT Saka Ketapang Perdana, a unit of state owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara.
