Malaysia?s national petroleum enterprise Petronas said on Thursday it had no plan to participate in ?D? Alpha Block in East Natuna currently owned by state oil and gas firm Pertamina and U.S. oil major Exxon Mobil Corp.

?We have no plan to buy Exxon?s working interest in Natuna. What we have planned is to buy gas from Indonesia,? Petronas senior vice president Datuk Ishak Imam Abas told Petromindo.Com.

"D" Alpha Block contains an estimated 210 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas, but due to high carbon dioxide content, only 45 TCF are thought to be recoverable commercially.

Exxon Mobil has 76 percent of working interest in the block, while Pertamina has the remaining 24 percent.

Pertamina had for quite sometime awaited response from Petronas to join it tapping gas reserves on "D" Alpha Block. (godang)
