Malaysia?s upstream company Petronas is seeking to increase oil production at the Bukit Tua field in Ketapang block, offshore East Java, to around 20,000 bpd from 15,000 bpd.

?We?re trying to increase Bukit Tua production at the Ketapang block and carry out maintenance to prevent production from dropping. We?re pushing from 15,000 to 20,000 bopd,? Senior Manager Corporate for Affairs and Administrations at Petronas Carigali Indonesia Andiono Setiawan told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

Ketapang PSC is operated by Petronas Carigali Ketapang II Ltd with 80 percent interest, while the remaining 20 percent is held by PT Saka Ketapang Perdana, a unit of state owned gas distributor PT PGN Tbk.

According to its work program and budget this year, Petronas sets oil production at Bukit Tua to reach 18,033 bpd.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Production Operation at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, Fater Yani said that his office has yet to be officially informed about the 20,000 bopd production plan in Bukit Tua field.
