Petronas to build gas stations in Indonesia

Malaysia Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) will build gas filling stations in Indonesia, starting in the Greater Jakarta area, later this year, Antara reported Thursday.

Petronas President Kamarulzaman Mohd Hashim said the plan has been discussed with the Indonesian authorities.

He said Petronas plans to build five filling stations in Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi with an investment of US$10 million.

Hashim said Petronas will build gas stations in isolated areas in the country such as in Kalimantan and Papua if allowed by the government.

He said his company does not need to compete with state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina as the country still relies on imports for 30 per cent of its oil fuel requirement.(*)
