Petronas Niaga Indonesia, a subsidiary of the Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas has received a license from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to sell liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Indonesia.

“We are still preparing the construction of the supporting facilities, and hopefully, we can begin the retail of the LPG beginning next year,” Petronas Niaga Indonesia’s president Faris Mustaffa was quoted as saying by Bisnis Indonesia on Monday.

He added that the company would invest about US$20 million for the supporting facilities, which would include an LPG terminal for receiving LPG that will be imported from Malaysia.

The terminal will be built in Java, with a receiving capacity of between 2,000 tons and 3,000 tons, he said, adding that LPG will also be sold in 12 kg, 14 kg and 50 kg containers for households. (*)
