As many as 11 ex-workers of JSX listed oil, gas and mining contractor PT Petrosea Tbk in East Kalimantan have planned to take legal action against the company management which had refused to pay Rp 100 million (US$=Rp8549) to each of them in compensation for their layoff, local daily Kaltim Post reported on Wednesday.

The workers complained that the company management had shown no sign to fulfill their demand. So far, the two sides had negotiated four times, they said.

In their negotiation on Tuesday, Petrosea?s management insisted to pay them amounts equivalent to their six months salaries. For some of the workers, they were only between Rp3 million and Rp6 million.

The company released the workers in April as part of its restructuring program. But, after being laid off, the workers found that the company?s training section had not been liquidated as planned.

Petrosea is one of Indonesia?s major oil, gas and mining contractors. It is 75 percent owned by Australian construction giant Clough Engineering Group. (*)
