PGE completes drilling of second well at Bukit Daun

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said it has completed drilling of BDNB/1 exploration well at the Bukit Daun geothermal working area in Bengkulu Province, reaching a final depth of 3,000 meters.

?A team of the Bukti Daun project is currently preparing for the next activity, testing the potential reserves of the well,? PGE said in a statement Sunday.

PGE has recently completed drilling and test of the BDNA/1 exploration well, which has proven reserves of about 5-7 MW, but the company said it can still increase further as heating-up process of the well has yet to be completed.

The Bukit Daun geothermal project is located in Bengkulu?s Lebong and Rejang Lebong regencies. PGE plans to develop a 3x30 MW geothermal power plant, which is targeted to start operation in 2021.

According to recent exploration survey, the Bukit Daun geothermal project holds resources potential of about 155 MW.

The Bukit Daun project was started in 2015. Drilling of the BDNA/1 exploration well was completed on February. Drilling of BDNB/1 well started in March.

The company said earlier it plans to spud the BDNC/1 well in early August. Exploration program in Bukit Daun has been planned to be completed in three years.
