PGE halts S. Sumatra geothermal exploration

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi (PGE), a geothermal development unit of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) is forced by the police to stop its exploration activities at Lumut Balai, Muara Enim regency, South Sumatra as the company has yet secured license from Ministry of Forestry to operate within the area.
PGE Director Zainal Ilmie Bachrun told reporters on Tuesday that the company stopped its exploration activities at Lumut Balai 1,2,3 and 4 starting November 1, 2010.
Zainal said that PGE is now coordinating with local administration and Ministry of Forestry to resolve the problem.
Pertamina is planning to start first unit of Lumut Balai geothermal power plant with capacity of 110MW in 2012. (godang)
