PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, started operating the unit 4 of PLTP Ulubelu geothermal power plant with capacity of 55 MW in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province, in March, sooner than the initial schedule, according to a top official of the firm.

?Ulubelu unit 4 is already COD on March 25, 2017, three months ahead of schedule,? PGE President Director Irfan Zainuddin told Petromindo.com Wednesday.

Irfan said that initially the COD status of the Ulubelu unit 4 was targeted to be reached in June 2017.

PGE has since July 15 operating the unit 3 of the Ulubelu geothermal power plant (also with capacity of 55 MW), sooner than the initial August 6 schedule. The completion of the third unit of the Ulubelu geothermal power plant has increased the total capacity of the plant to 165 MW. The first and second units have been in operation since 2012. The completion of the unit 4 further increases the total capacity of the plant to 220 MW.

Both Unit 3 and 4 projects are worth US$397 million with financing provided by Pertamina and the World Bank.
