Geothermal developer PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) said its Lahendong geothermal power plant in North Sulawesi remains safe and operating normally following a strong earthquake in the region.
The magnitude 7.3 quake struck the Manado–Bitung area on Thursday morning, prompting the company to activate emergency response procedures and conduct inspections of its facilities, assets and personnel.

General Manager Lahendong Area Novi Purwono said all generating units at the Lahendong geothermal power plant continued to operate stably after thorough checks.
“All operational facilities have been inspected and confirmed to be in safe and controlled condition,” he said.
The plant’s six generating units, with a combined capacity of 120 megawatts, were not affected by the quake, and no environmental impact was detected, the company said.
PGE added that all workers were safe and that it is continuing to coordinate with local authorities while monitoring conditions in surrounding communities.
The Lahendong facility is a key contributor to electricity supply in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo, accounting for around 30% of regional demand.
The company said it will continue close monitoring to ensure operational reliability and safety following the earthquake.
