Westindo to build Atadei geothermal power plant

"We will ink PPA agreement for Karaha Bodas power plant (1x30 MW), Lumut Balai power plant unit 1, 2, 3 & 4 (4x55 MW), Kamojang power plant unit 5 and 6 (1x30 MW), Ulu Belu power plant unit 3 and 4 (2x55 MW), Lahendong power plant unit 5 and 6 (2x20 MW)," PGE president director Abadi Purnomo said on Friday.
Abadi said the price of electricity generated by Ulu Belu and Lumut Balai power plants had been set at 7.53 US cent per kilowatt hour (Kwh), while Lahendong, Kamojang and Karaha Bodas at 8.25 cent per Kwh.
Meanwhile, PT Westindo Utama Karya said it will invest at least US$15 million to develop the PLTP Atadei geothermal power plant in Lembata, East Nusatenggara with a capacity of 5 MW. The power will be sold to PLN at the price of 9 cents per kwh. The firm will tap its internal sources to explore two wells in Lembata. The two wells are expected to generate 2.5 MW of power each in 2012, according to the firm's operational director Ridwan. (Godang/Giok)
