PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), plans to drill one geothermal exploration well in North Sulawesi this year to support the planned Lahendong unit-7 geothermal power plant.

"PLTP Lahendong unit-5 and unit-6 (geothermal power plants) were already inaugurated on December 27, 2016. For the (planned) Lahendong unit-7, we are still in the exploration stage for drilling one well," President Director of PGE Irfan Zaenuddin said to Petromindo.com on Thursday.

He said that the drilling is scheduled to be conducted in October 2017.

The PLTP Lahendong unit-5 and unit-6 have a generation capacity of 2 x 20 MW, with a total investment of US$7 million per MW. Combined with unit 1-4, the total generation capacity of PLTP Lahendong is 120 MW.
