The sales volume of state-owned gas utility PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) rose 15 percent in the third quarter of 2004 to 290-300 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) from 265 MMCFD during the same period last year, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Saturday edition.
“The sales volume rose up to 15 percent in compared to a year earlier period due to an additional gas purchasing from new gas fields in West Java and East Java,” PGN president director WMP Simandjuntak said.
He said PGN received supplies of 80 MMCFD from Lapindo Brantas in East Java and another 10-15 MMCFD from Jatirarangon field in West Java.
But the rise in sales volume didn’t contribute to the increase in company’s profit. PGN posted a reduced profit in compare to last year during the end of the third quarter due to weak rupiah. (*)
