The 72-km pipelines are divided in three segments, namely the Kejayan-Purwosari (15 km) segment in Pasuruan area, the Kalisogo-Waru segment (30 km) in Sidoarjo area and the Jetis-Ploso segment (27 km) also in Sidoarjo, PGN?s Corporate Secretary Hery Yusup in a statement on Tuesday.
The new pipelines will add to PGN?s pipeline network in the province, which now totals 829 km in length.
He said as of the end of June, the Kelayan-Purwosari project with a capacity of 5 mmscfd had been 86 percent completed, while the Jetis-Ploso project has been completed 37 percent. He however did not provide details about the progress of the Kalisogo-Waru project.
The new pipelines will be used to deliver gas to customers in industrial areas, he said, adding that PGN?s Distribution Region II (East Java, Central Java) now serves nine industrial estates with a total of 118 customers and a total gas consumption of 28 mmscfd. The industrial customers manage to save Rp 2.06 trillion in fuel costs by using gas rather than diesel oil, he said.
