State gas distribution company PT. PGN on Saturday signed deal to supply some 50 million standard cubic feet of natural gas petrochemical company PT. Chandra Asri Petrochemical Company (CAPC) starting 2005.

?Natural gas would be supplied from CNOOC?s gas field offshore West Java. We are now negotiating with CNOOC,? said PGN president WMP Simanjuntak in Bali.

Simanjuntak said PGN and CNOOC is still in negotiation regarding the price of gas. ?If we can?t struck deal with CNOOC, gas will be sourced from South Sumatra via South Sumatra-West Java pipeline, which is scheduled to be completed early 2006,? said Simanjuntak.

CAPC is one of the country?s largest petrochemical complex, located in the industrial town of Cilegon in Banten province. (alex)
