PGN city gas network program progressing well

IDX-listed gas distribution PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (IDX:PGAS), the gas sub-holding of PT Pertamina, said the realized development of the city gas distribution network, known as Jargas, is progressing well, ahead of the target set by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).
As of September 2020, the actual development of the city gas network program has reached 73.8 percent, spreading in 23 regencies and cities, faster than the target of 67.4 percent, Pertamina said in a statement.
"The development of Jargas or households goes ahead with a stringent health SOP (standard operating procedures) and attained the set target," Director for Infrastructure and Technology of PGN Redy Ferryanto said.
He said as many as 94,400 households have been connected (SRs) with the Jargas. "We feel grateful because the realized (Jargas development) has reached beyond the target that has been set," Redy said.
He said the Jargas projects in a number of cities and regencies, such as in Palembang, Dumai, Pekanbaru, Bandar Lampung, Serang, Semarang cities as well as in Ogan Ilir and Serang regencies are progressing well, about 80 percent completed.

Redy said the development of the government city gas network program that has been carried out in 24 cities and regencies valued at Rp1.3 trillion is divided into 10 packages. These program packages are consisting of 16,709 SRs installed in Langsa town, Aceh Tamiang regency and Deli Serdang regency; 13,358 SRs in Ogan Ilir regency and Palembang town; 13,044 SRs in Ogan Komering Ulu regency and Muara Enim regency; 12,189 SRs in Musirawas and Musi Banyuasin regencies; 9,981 SRs in Dumai and Pekanbaru cities; and 12,932 SRs in Jambi town, Muara Jambai regency and Sarolangun regency; 13,114 SRs in Lampung town and Serang regency; 10,725 SRs in Semarang town and Blora regency; 9,003 SRs in East Kalimantan (Kutai Kartanegara regency and Samarinda town); and 16,809 SRs in Balikpapan town, Penajem Paser Utara regency and Tarakan city.
PGN was awarded to develop 127,864 SRs for households in 2020 and 138,206 SRs in 2021, Pertamina noted.
The development of the city gas network is part of the government's National Strategic Program (PSN), aiming at developing an evenly distributed gas distribution network as well as increase the utilization of gas in the domestic market.
As of today, PGN is serving 400,000 households in 17 provinces with gas allocation of 6.7 bbtud.
