PGN delays gas price increase

Tuesday, July 31 2007 - 07:45 AM WIB

State gas distribution firm PGN said on Tuesday it has delayed plan to increase gas price by 10 percent to US$5.5 per MMBTU as per August 1, 2007 as the plan is still being discussed with the government.

CEO Soetikno said that currently PGN and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources are still discussing the plan.

PGN has been trying to increase gas price to industrial customers, arguing that it has to pay more for gas from producers. But the plan has been strongly opposed by customers and the government also insisted that PGN could not raise gas price without being approved by the government. (Bernard)
