PGN expands number of gas customers in nine cities

IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk has increased this month the number of its natural gas customers in nine cities comprising of small-scale and large industries.

?We continue to expand (gas) infrastructure development in various areas, so that more households, small-scale enterprises and large industries can enjoy efficient and environmentally friendly natural gas from PGN,? said PGN Vice President for Communications Irwan Andri Atmanto in a statement on Friday.

?There are nine cities where we expand gas distribution to new customers including Batam, Bekasi, Pasuruan, Bogor, Jakarta, Surabaya, Medang, Tangerang and Karawang,? he added.

Irwan cited as an example that in Batam, the new customers include PT Accord Mandiri Batam, Hotel Best Western Premier Panbil Batam, PT Fastcoat and Rumah Makan Mie Tarempa restaurant.

In Bekasi, PGN transmits natural gas to new customers including PT Oceancash Felts, and PT SAIC General Motors Wuling (SGMW) Motor Indonesia; in Pasuruan to PT Tirta Sukses Perkasa ( Indofood Group ); in Jakarta to Hotel Alila SCBD; in Medan to PT Madani; in Tangerang to PT Indorack Multikreasi; and in Karawang to PT Tenang Jaya Sejahtera.

Irwan said that increasing number of households and businesses or industries are switching to natural gas because it?s more efficient and clean.

The statement said that PGN currently has transmitted natural gas more than 119,960 household customers, 1,929 small enterprises, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, restaurants, and 1,630 large industries in various cities across the country.

PGN currently operates 7,200 km of gas pipeline, accounting for 78 percent of the total gas pipeline in the country.
