PGN expands pipeline networks in Semarang

The distribution unit II of the state owned gas company PGN will expand its pipeline network in Semarang to allow the company to meet the demand from industrial users in the Central Java capital.

Troyino, the general manager of the distribution unit, said in Surabaya on Thursday that the 7-kilometer pipeline network would be built early this year and it was expected to start functioning in September.

He said that the new pipeline would distribute gas from gas fields in Mengkang, East Java, with an initial capacity of 4 million cubic-meters per month.

"We hope the sales will increase by 20 percent to Rp 750 billion from Rp 600 billion last year with the expansion of the new pipeline networks," he was quoted as saying by Bisnis Indonesia daily.

At present, the gas company?s distribution unit II operates and manages pipeline networks of 494.72 kilometers and serves 143 industrial users, 55 commercial facilities and 3,167 households. (*)
