State gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) expects to obtain assurance from the government over certainty of gas supply for its Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Belawan, North Sumatera by year-end.

Director for Investment of PGN, Wahid Sutopo, told Petromindo.com that the certainty of gas supply is needed so that the company would go ahead with development of the FSRU project.

?God willing, there would be certainty of gas supply to FSRU Belawan by the end of this year,? Wahid said.

PGN estimated the Belawan FSRU, the second in Indonesia after the West Java FSRU in Jakarta Bay, would require an investment of US$200 million.

PGN is seeking LNG from the Tangguh LNG project in Papua, operated by BP Plc. However, the government and BP have yet to respond to the request. (godang)
