PGN expects FSRU vessel to arrive from S.Korea in June

IDX-listed gas distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) expects a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to arrive from South Korea in June 2014.

Construction of the FSRU to be located in Lampung is nearly completed as it has covered about 90 percent of the targeted works, said PGN Vice President for Communications, Ridha Ababil to Petromindo.com.

PGN signed last year a contract with Oslo-based Hoegh LNG for the supply of an FSRU and mooring system offshore Belawan, North Sumatra. Hoegh is constructing the FSRU at Hyundai Heavy Industries facility in South Korea.

But the location of the FSRU has been moved to Lampung due to problems related to LNG supply, and the fact that state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina is constructing an LNG storage and regasification terminal in the neighboring Aceh province, which will become the backbone of gas supply for industries in Aceh and North Sumatra.
