State gas distribution firm PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) said it expects gas sales volumes to more than double next as the construction of its new pipelines and distribution network has already been completed.

Gas sales volumes may rise to more than 700 million cubic feet a day, PGN's president W.M.P. Simandjuntak told reporters in Jakarta Friday. The company sells 315 million cubic feet a day (MMCFD) of the gas currently, he said.

PGN started receiving about 100 MMCFD of gas from fields operated by Santos Ltd. last month and expects another 300 million cubic feet of the energy from ConocoPhillips next year, Simandjuntak said.

In September of this year, PGN finalized a commercial loan agreement worth US$225 million with a consortium led by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the completion of Sumatra-Java gas transmission pipeline project and its distribution network. (godang)
