PGN eyes Bontang, Tangguh LNG as suppliers for N. Sumatra terminal

IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) said it would require supply of 1.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG for its proposed receiving terminal in North Sumatra.

CEO Hendi Priyo Santoso told reporters that PGN prioritized domestic supply source for the terminal. ?We prefer to get LNG supply from domestic producers such as Bontang LNG and Tangguh LNG. PGN has notified its LNG requirement for North Sumatra to the government and BPMIGAS,? he said.

If the company can not source LNG supply from domestic producersknit might scout for supply from nearby suppliers such as Australia and Papua NewGuinea, he said.

Earlier in September 2009, Hendi said the North Sumatra LNG terminal will start operations in 2012.(godang)
