State owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) plans to cooperate with oil and gas companies from the United States to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply for Indonesia, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

PGN?s Corporate Secretary Heri Yusup said that the state gas distributor would assign its subsidiary PT Saka Energi to carry out business expansion in the US. ?It?s part of our expansion plan. PGN also plans to acquire local companies,? he added.

He said that PGN would cooperate with the US companies which have already been engaged in LNG production. ?We will cooperate in LNG production because a number of LNG producers have shown interest to establish partnership with us,? he said.

He said the expansion would enable PGN to provide more reliable LNG supply for the company?s floating storage regasificadon unit (FSRU) which will be built in Lampung.(*)
