PGN finishing gas network in Batam?s business district

IDX-listed stated owed gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is finishing the development of gas pipelines in Nagoya, the prime business district of Batam Island.

PGN?s Director Dilo Seno Widagdo said the 18.3-km pipeline has been 90 percent complete now and is expected to be completed in May. Once the pipeline has been completed, businesses in Nagoya such as malls, hotels, restaurants will be able to enjoy gas from PGN.

Besides, PGN is developing a city gas network comprising 4000 gas connections to households in Batu Aji area of the island at the behest of the ministry of energy and mineral resources, Dilo said, adding the project is expected to be completed this year.

At present, PGN operates 123 km of pipelines on the island. The Nagoya pipeline will thus increase the pipeline to 141.3 km. The existing pipeline serves 672 customers, consisting of 38 big industrial customers, 36 commercial customers, such as malls and restaurants and 597 households.

Nationally, PGN supplies gas to 107,690 households, more than 1,857 small businesses, malls, restaurants and hotels and 1,529 large-scale industrial companies and power plants.
