PGN inaugurates gas supply to households in Batam

The inauguration ceremony was held at Kurnia Djaya Alam housing complex on the industrial island, attended by PGN?s officials and Batam?s mayoralty officials and councilors.
PGN?s Business Director Jobi Trianda Hasjim said in a statement that the firm has just completed the construction of 8.5 km gas distribution pipelines on the island and will continue expanding the network in the future in order to expand its client base among households on the island.
The project was started in September last year and was finished in February this year, one month ahead of schedule.
In Batan, there are two housing complexes which have been using gas, namely Bida Asri and Puri Legenda, he said.
He said PGN is committed to speed up and increase the utilization of gas among various market segments including industries, transportation, households and non-formal sectors such as street food restaurants.
PGN has just launched a program called ?Sayang Ibu? (Loving Mother) aimed to supply gas to 1 million new customers. For the program, PGN has set aside US$200 million to build gas distribution pipelines across the country this year. Besides, the firm will build a total of 16 gas stations and mobile refueling units in Jakarta, Surabaya and Sukabumi this year.
