State gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) has scrapped a gas consumption quota imposed on industries in East Java after receiving more gas supply from three contractors, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.
Mashadi, the general manager of PGN’s Strategic Business Unit II East Java, said in Surabaya on Thursday that starting this weekend, gas supply to its customers in East Java, especially industrial customers, had slowly returned to normal as it has received a total of 135 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) in gas supplies from Santos, Kodeco and Lapindo Brantas.
According to Mashadi, PGN has managed to install by-pass pipeline and make use of a compressor, which allows the company to increase the volume of gas supply from contractors, Santos and Kodeco.
Earlier, PGN was compelled to impose a gas consumption quota on its customers in East Java following the declining volume of gas supply from the three contractors due to an explosion on the Pertamina’s transmission pipeline in Porong, East Java. (*)
