State owned gas distribution company Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) said that it would need at least two years to stabilize the gas supply which has declined sharply during the past several months, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Tuesday.
PGN’s spokesman Agus Dihardjo said in Jakarta on Monday that the shortage of the gas supply from the company to a number of industrial users was caused by the decline in the gas supply from gas producers.
He dismissed accusations that the shortage of the gas supply occurred because PGN increased the number of its industrial consumers. “The shortage of gas supply is merely caused by the decline in the supply from (gas) producers,” he added.
A number of industrial companies particularly ceramics producers complained that the shortage of the gas supply from PGN might cause closure of their factories. (*)
