State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina appointed on Monday Suko Hartono as the new President Director of its gas trading and infrastructure subsidiary PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).

Suko, 48, a graduate in chemical engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), with 20-years of career at state-controlled IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk, replaces Toto Nugroho, who was appointed last month to hold the post of Senior Vice President of Pertamina Integrated Supply Chain. Suko was previously General Manager at PGN?s West Java strategic business unit.

Director of Gas at Pertamina, Yenni Andayani, who is also President Commissioner of Pertagas, said that this is for the first time for Pertamina to appoint an ?outsider? to lead the company?s subsidiary.

The appointment of a PGN official to Pertagas comes ahead of government?s plan to create a holding company for state-controlled oil and gas firms.
