State-owned gas distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN has begun the operation of another section of its Sumatra-West Java (SSWJ) II gas pipeline, providing gas supply to the company's corporate buyers in Bekasi and surrounding areas.
PGN's corporate secretary Widyatmoko Bapang said that the pipeline's section which was officially operated on Sunday would be able to gradually deliver gas between 150 million and 177 million cubic feet per day beginning August, this year.
"At least 160 companies will receive gas supply," he said on Sunday.
The pipeline section supplies gas from state owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina's gas fields in Pagardewa in South Sumatra and and Labuhan Maringgai in East Lampung to Muara Bekasi in West Java.
In March 2007, PGN started supplying gas from Pagardewa and Labuhan Maringgai to Cilegon in Banten.
With the operation of the Labuhan Maringgai-Muara Bekasi pipeline, PGN would soon build distribution pipelines in several parts of West Java including Bekasi, Karawang, Jakarta and Bogor. (Godang)
