IDX-listed gas distribution company PT PGN Tbk signed a MoU with state-owned port operator PT Pelindo III on Friday, under which the former would among others supply gas to meet the latter?s gas requirement including for power plants at its ports and for other assets.
Kompas.com said that the MoU was signed by PGN Director of Commerce Danny Praditya and Pelindo III President Director Orias Petrus Moedak.
Danny said that the MoU forms part of efforts by PGN to expand the use of gas in the country. ?With this cooperation, we?ll help Pelindo III in meeting gas requirement at the ports managed by the company,? he said.
He added that PGN will also help Pelindo III in setting up gas refill stations, supply skilled human resources in technical and power plant matters, as well as set up telecommunications network through optic cable.
Meanwhile, Orias said that Pelindo III is committed to use more environmentally source of energy such as gas for its operations. He cited as an example that at its Teluk Lamongan Port, in Surabaya, East Java Province, only gas-fueled trucks can operate there.
?We also have business unit engaged in LNG terminal facility at the Benoa Port in Bali which currently supplies gas for the Pesanggaran power plant,? he added. (*)
