Pertamina said in a press release on Thursday that the agreement was signed by Pertamina?s New and Renewable Energy Director Yenni Andayani and PGN?s Commercial Director Jobi Triananda Hasjim in the headquarters of Pertamina in Jakarta.
Yenni Andayani noted that the cooperation will enable both Pertamina and PGN to jointly distribute gas by utilizing facilities of each company. The integrated oil fuels and gas refueling stations will be built in Pertamina?s existing oil fuels refueling stations which are near to existing gas pipelines owned by PGN.
The cooperation is expected to accelerate the development of natural gas infrastructure for transportation sector. It is also expected to expedite the realization of the government?s policy of pushing up the conversion of the oil fuels (BBM) use to natural gas (BBG) use across Indonesia.
?Our cooperaton will stand as a milestone in accelerating the conversion of BBM use to BBG use in Indonesia,? said Yenni.
She said that Pertamina had identified its oil fuels refueling stations which are near to PGN?s gas pipelines. ?We?ll prioritize such development in our SPBU which are the nearest to PGN?s gas pipelines,? she added.
PGN Commercial Director Jobi Triananda Hasjim said that by cooperating with Pertamina, they can overcome a number of problems, such as landsites and several bureaucratic licenses, which had hindered the development of gas refueling sttations so far.
?We hope this cooperation will improve our self-sufficiency in energy and in turn will generate the Indonesian economic growth,? said Jobi.
But the government is also expected to support it by issuing new regulations regarding gas converter kit, installment and maintenance workshops, and incentives for car makers to produce gas-fired vehicles.
