State owned gas transmission and distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) expected to sign an agreement with state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina for the use of East Java Gas Pipeline (EJGP) to transport natural gas from Maleo field offshore East Java to East Java?s mainland next week.

?Most of Pertamina?s officials are still in Japan, that?s why it (the signing agreement) could not happen today,? PGN president WMP Simandjuntak told reporters after the signing ceremony of gas contract with Australian oil and gas company Santos Limited.

On Tuesday, PGN signed a 12-year contract to purchase the entire natural gas reserve of around 243 billion cubic feet at Santos-operated Maleo field. First gas supply of up to 110 million cubic feet of gas per day is scheduled to commence in August next year.

Santos is to tie in a 8 km 14-inch diameter sub sea pipeline from the field?s Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) to the 28-inch diameter EJGP. (godang)
