Gas distribution company PGN is planning to build a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in the popular resort island of Bali. Whether the company will proceed with the plan or not will depend on the result of the ongoing feasibility study, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.

?The feasibility study will be completed soon,? said PGN Director of Technology and Development Djoko Saputro.

He explained that the FSRU will be needed to help supply more gas to Bali amid projected rising demand for electricity in the island. Therefore, the planned FSRU will also depend on the state-owned electricity company PLN power sector development in the island.

?We are not yet very clear about PLN's electricity development program in Bali. We're letting the technical team to coordinate with them and get more accurate information,? Djoko said. (*)
