PGN prepares EPC tender for Lampung FSRU

Gas distributor company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) said it plans to build a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Lampung this year as an anticipation of a surge of domestic demand for gas, a company official said.
Gamal Imam Santoso, PGN?s Vice President for Gas Supply, told Petromindo.com that to realize the plan, PGN is preparing the tender for engineering, procurement and construction for the project, which will be held in May-June.
?PGN is now undertaking preparatory steps to realize the construction of an FSRU in Labuhan Maringai, Lampung. We plan to start the construction this year and followed by commissioning in the second or third quarter 2014,? Imam Santoso said.
Apart from constructing the FSRU, PGN also plans to install 80-kilometers of gas pipeline from the FSRU to Bandar Lampung town. Imam Santoso said the company has obtained approval from the Lampung provincial government to build the FSRU.
The Lampung FSRU is expected to have a capacity to produce 170 metric tons of gas.
He said the company is still seeking gas allocation from the upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS.
The Lampung FSRU is one of the planned FSRUs to be built by the company in the coming years. The other FSRUs are the West Java FSRU which is scheduled to commence operation in late March or early April and the Belawan FSRU in northern Sumatera.
In addition, the company also plans to build an FSRU which will be especially dedicated to provide gas supply to state-owned steel factory PT Krakatau Steel in Cilegon, Banten.
