PGN revives plan to build N. Sumatra LNG terminal

State gas distribution firm PGN said it would revive plan to build a mini-LNG receiving terminal in the port city of Belawan, North Sumatra to meet the region?s gas requirement.

CEO Hendi Prio Santoso told reporters that the receiving terminal will have a capacity to process 150MMCFD of gas.

?Despite new supplies from North Sumatra gas producers, the province will still suffer gas deficit,? he said.

Hendi did not disclose the timeline of the terminal development and the source of the LNG.

Separately, Fahmi Mochtar, CEO of state electricity firm PLN said Belawan power plant needs 130MMCFD of gas supply, but currently only 20MMCFD is available.(Bernard)
