PGN?s 2009 net profit jumps tenfold on higher sales volume

State-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) reported Wednesday that its 2009 audited net profit reached Rp 6.23 trillion (1US$=Rp 9,100), an almost tenfold increase compared to the previous year?s of Rp 634 billion.

The firm attributed the profit increase on gas sales volume. In 2009, the volume gas disributed by the firm reached 792 MMSCFD, 37 percent up compared to the previous year?s 578 MMSCFD, the company said in a statement.

Transmitted gas also increased by 1 percent to 767 MMSCFD from 758 MMSCFD in 2008, it said. (denny)
