State gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) has signed the contract of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) with PT Rekayasa Industri to develop the pipeline of Muara Karang-Muara Bekasi.

The gas pipeline, at a length of 45 kilometer with a diameter of 24 inch, is known as Ringline-1 route, which has a capacity of 200 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD).

PGN Technology and Development Director Djoko Saputra said in Jakarta on Friday, 19th July 2013, that the development of the Ringline-1 will strengthen the gas infrastructure, especially in West Java. It will also improve the reliability of distribution network in Banten, Bogor, Jakarta, and Bekasi.

"The infrastructure is the backbone of the natural gas use in Indonesia. PGN will continue to support the government in securing the gas supply at the domestic market,? said Djoko.

Djoko said that currently PGN is finalizing the development of the gas pipeline of Cikande-Bitung (CP3B), which will channel gas to the distribution system in eastern Banten through the offtake station of Bitung-2 and Bitung-3.

The CP3B construction project was started in March last year and currently it has reached about 90-percent completion.
