PGN to build 60 CNG stations until 2019

IDX-listed state controlled gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) plans to build a total of 60 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in various parts of the country through 2019.

The CNG stations will be built in among others Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Batam, Lampung, Riau and North Sumatra, PGN?s President Director Hendi Prio Santoso said on Wednesday.

At present, the firm owns and operates 5 CNG stations and partners with 14 CNG stations which receive CNG supplies from PGN. Besides, the firm operates a number of mobile CNG stations, called Mobile Refueling Unit (MRU) in such locations as Monas, Pluit Dam, Grogol and Gresik.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, PT Gagas Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary of PGN, together with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a firm owned by the Jakarta provincial administration, ran a trial operation on a CNG station in Ancol, North Jakarta. The CNG station is planned to become the supplier of CNG for 88 units of Transjakarta bus plying the Ancol-Kampung Melayu route.

Gagas President Director Danny Praditya said aside from the CNG station in Ancol, PGN also cooperates with Jakpro to build MRU-Online in Harmoni and Pluit areas of Jakarta.
