PGN to build Duri-Medan pipeline

State owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) plans to build a 395-km gas pipeline from Duri in Riau to Medan in North Sumatra.

PGN?s Director of Technology Djoko Saputro was quoted by Antara as saying on Tuesday in Medan that PGN will start building the pipeline after completing land acquisition for the project.

Gas for the pipeline will be sourced from South Sumatra, he said adding it will add gas supplies to the province of North Sumatra.

Djoko said the pipeline will be connected to the 130 km Duri-Dumai gas pipeline which is now under construction by the firm.

PLN uses 24-inch pipes for the Duri-Dumai project, while the Dumai-Medan project will use 28-inch pipes, he said, without providing details on the costs of the projects. (*)
