State owned gas distribution company PT PGN will maintain the retail gas price at the current level of US$2.8 plus connection fee of Rp 3,000 per million metric British thermal unit (MMBTU), despite the continuing increase in gas demand from corporate users, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.
"The price will be maintained until next year," General Manager of PGN distribution unit in East Java, Trijono, said Thursday. The company last raised price in August from US$2.6 plus fee of Rp 280 per MMBTU following the rise in producers price.
A number of companies have been in the waiting list to get gas connection. PGN would need additional supply of at least 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) to meet the new demand.
The companies in the waiting list include PT Ajinomoto Indonesia, PT Surabaya Agung Kertas, PT Sasa Inti and PT HM Sampoerna. (*)
