State gas distribution company PT PGN said it will name next week consultant (s) for the feasibility study over its plan to construct a 1,100-kilometer natural gas pipeline between East Kalimantan and East Java.

?Next week, we will name feasibility study consultants from the shortlisted ones,? PGN operation director Adil Abbas told Petromindo.Com on Monday.

Adil said five U.S. consulting firms had been shortlisted for the project. He declined to mention their names however.

The U.S. government in September awarded PGN a grant of US$655,000 for the feasibility study project.

PGN said earlier the pipeline project would cost about $1.1 billion, and that about one billion cubic feet of natural gas was panned to be transmitted daily through the pipeline.

Adil said on Monday China?s energy giants CNOOC and CNPC had expressed interest to take part in the pipeline project. (godang)
