State owned gas distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) will supply natural gas of about one million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) to meet the gas needs of about 200 buses operated by Trans Batavia busway operator, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

PGN's president director WMP Simandjuntak said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the gas would be supplied through a four-kilometer gas pipeline which would be built in cooperation with Trans Batavia, which manages and operates the busway transportation system in Jakarta.

The gas would be supplied to Pertamina's compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, East Jakarta and in Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta to meet the gas needs of Trans Batavia buses operating in the second and third routes, beginning April and August this year.

Simandjuntak said that the gas which would be supplied from BP Muara Karang would total only about 0.01 percent of PGN's gas total supply which reached about between 90 and 98 MMCFD. (*)
