PHE completes CBM drilling in South Sumatra

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Metana Sumatera 7 has completed the drilling of ABK D001 CBM well, a corehole well as well as the firm?s first exploration well, on July 23, 2014 as scheduled.
The well was spudded on Jun 29, 2014 and the drilling last 24 days The well is part of Air Benakat 3 block, located in Lembak village, Lembak district, Muara Enim regency, company General Manager Siswantoro M. Prasodjo told Petromindo.Com.
The drilling targets Muara Enim formation, which holds 12 coal seams, grouped in four coal units. The seams, from top to bottom, are called Keladi and Merapi, which are grouped in Coal Unit M1; Petai, Suban and Mangus, grouped in Coal Unit M2; Benuang and Kebon, grouped in Coal Unit M3; Babat, Lematang ad Niru, grouped in Coal Unit M4. In the current drilling program, the firm mainly targets Coal Unit M2 and M4, which both hold potential coal seams.
The driling was carried out to the depth of 750 meters. Samples (coring) of all seams have been extracted for analysis. An IFO test has been carried out to assess the character of the reservoir on four intervals of coal seams with potential coal methane content of around 60-100 scf/ton.
?The succesful drilling of ABK3 D001 well has strengthened the confidence of most of PT PHE Metana Sumatera 7 team and optimism that similar success will be reached during the drilling of second well ABK3 C001, scheduled to be spudded in mid-August,? he said.
