PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) is conducting land clearance for exploration of coal-bed methane (CBM) in Air Benakat III and Suban II Blocks in South Sumatra.
In Suban I CBM Block, PHE is still in a process of study, but it is expected that this year there will be one core hole drilling and exploratory drilling there.
"Currently, we?re still in the process preparing the location for drillings. That includes paying compensations to the local people owning the land areas. But we?ve already got all necessary permits for that. In Suban I Block, we?re in a process of study,? PT PHE?s Operation Director Edi Purnomo told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Edi said that his company is seeking for rig to be used in the planned drillings. "We?ve got offerings from providers, but we?re still in a process of conducting tender for that,? he said.
Separately, PT PHE?s Sumatra CBM Asset Manager Eko Rudi Tantoro said that the drilling is scheduled to be implemented during the fourth quarter of this year (2013).
"Besides land clearance, we?re also doing procurement activities as support services to the drilling. God?s willing, we?ll start it in the fourth quarter this year,? he told Petromindo.com on Wednesday.
PT Pertamina Hulu Energi conducted the exploration of the CBM through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Suban II, PT Suban Methan Gas, and PT Suban Energi.
