PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) inaugurated on Sunday the completion and departure of a new platform, called PHE-38B, to its West Madura Offshore (WMO) block off Madura, one of the three new production platforms it plans to operate soon to help increase production.

The three new platforms, the other two are named PHE-39 and PHE-54, are built at PT Bakrie Construction.

Muhamad Husein, Upstream Director at PT Pertamina, the parent company of PHE, said during the sailing ceremony in Cilegon, West Java, that the PHE-38B is designed to be able to drill six to eight wells with a production of 7,000 bpod for oil and 35 mmscfd for gas.

The platform is sailing straight to the drilling site, about 70 miles off the Bangkalan beach in Madura.

Husein said the company expects first production from the platform on December 21, about six months after the oil and gas reserve discoveries. The remaining two platforms are expected to be completed before the end of the year.
