PT Pertamina Hulu Energi West Madura Offshore (PHE WMO), a subsidiary of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina, said it manages to drill only three wells at West Madura Offshore in 2011, lower than its early plan of 6 wells. The drilling of the other three wells will be continued next year.

?In fact, we only manage to complete the drilling of three wells at KE-38, West Madura Offshore this year. We are now preparing to deploy rig from Transocean to WMO,? President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Salis Aprilan, told Petromindo.com.

Currently, the KE-38 field has 14 oil wells.

Salis said the three additional wells should be completed in February 2012 and would ramp up WMO production to 20,000-23,000 bopd from 12,000-13,000 bopd at present.

The government officially named Pertamina in early May this year as the operator of the West Madura Offshore block replacing South Korean company Kodeco in the new contract which became effective May 7 for 20 years.

Pertamina?s ownership in the block was increased to 80 percent from 50 percent recently, with Kodeco holding the remaining 20 percent, unchanged from the previous year (godang).
