PHE drills two CBM wells in South Sumatra

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), is drilling two coal bed methane (CBM) wells in South Sumatra.
The two wells are the ABK3-D001 well in Air Benakat III CBM PSC in Lembak village, Muara Enim regency; and the ME?I CBM?003 well in Muara Enim I CBM PSC.
The ABK3-D001 well is the first well to be drilled by the firm in Air Benakat block. It was spudded by PT Expan Petrogas Internusa early this month using Rig#7 (450 HP). Meanwhile, the ME?I CBM?003 well, which was spudded in June this year, is the second well to be drilled by the firm in Muara Enim block, according to Siswantoro M. Prasodjo, General Manager of PHE Metana Sumatra 1 and 7.
The Air Benakat III CBM PSC covers an area of 964.8 sq km in South Sumatra. The PSC is owned by PT PHE Metana Sumatera 7 (operator) and PT Unigas Geosinklinal Makmur.
The Muara Enim I PSC covers an area of 652.6 sq km in South Sumatra. The PSC is owned by PT PHE Metana Sumatera 1 (operator) and PT Indo Gas Methane.
