PHE goes all out in WMO

Efforts are being put in place by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) at the West Madura Offshore (WMO) block in East Java, whose production has declined by more than 50 percent from its peak in early 2010, to halt the production decline rate and start heading for an upward trend.

At present, the block produces 12,500 bopd, way below the 26,000 bopd production in early 2010, about a year before PHE was granted the block.

President Director Salis Aprilian said that among the efforts is the addition of at least 10 exploration and production wells, coupled with a number of injection wells, during 2012-2013 period, as well as putting in place additional rigs or production platforms.

?This is because at WMO, the carbonate reservoir and aquifer support are limited. Without those efforts, the production could decline by over 65 percent,? Salis told petromindo.com.

The efforts are expected to help propel production to around 16,000 bopd by the end of the year, and 21,000 bopd next year.
